On November 10, 2016 Phelps County K-9 Deputy Glenn Suschanke along with two DEA Task Force officers were recognized for the seizure of 16 pounds of Heroin and 25 pounds of Fentanyl. In October 2015, two residents of California were stopped for a traffic violation. A K-9 alert let to the discovery of the packages concealed within the vehicle. The seizure is considered the largest seizure in the St. Louis district. Fentanyl is considered to be 100 times more addictive than Heroin and has the highest mortality rate among users.
