The Jasper County Sheriff’s Department along with the Southwest Missouri DWI Taskforce conducted a sobriety checkpoint over the weekend. Deputies were at the intersection of Highway 43 and Fountain Road late Saturday night into early Sunday morning. Chief Deputy Derek Walrod tells News Talk KZRG there were several arrests made.
“There were 3 arrests for DWI, 3 arrests for possession of a controlled substance, and 4 arrests of people with warrants.”
Walrod adds that over 1,000 cars went through the checkpoint.
“We did a total of 33 field sobriety tests. All of the people that we tested admitted to drinking earlier that day.” The goal of the sobriety checkpoints is to keep Jasper counties’ roads safe from impaired drivers. via KZRG
