JACKSON COUNTY, Mo. — The Jackson County Sheriff’s office conducted the largest sex offender sweep on Thursday to make sure registered sex offenders are following the law. FOX 4 photojournalist Rachel Coleman followed along for the operation. “We  are finding out a lot of these offenders their information is not correct, and those people are being dealt with accordingly,” Deputy Ryan Painter said. During the sweep Jackson County Sheriff Mike Sharp visited FOX 4 to share more on the operation. Sheriff Sharp says there are more than 2,200 registered sex offenders currently living in Jackson County, which is more than any other county in Missouri. As of Thursday, May 26, Sheriff Sharp says they’ve made at least 50 arrests for non-compliance. U.S. Marshal service is funding the operation, which is called Operation Safe Spring. All municipalities in Jackson County and the Missouri State Highway Patrol are assisting with the sweep. -via Fox 4 KC
