JEFFERSON CITY – Gov. Jay Nixon today appointed D. Andrew Davis, of Rolla, as the new Coroner for Phelps County. The position became vacant upon the death of former Coroner Larry Swinfard.
Davis, a Republican, has more than 40 years of experience in public service, including more than three decades in law enforcement. From 1975 until 1996, Davis was a Senior Non-Commissioned Officer with the United States Army Military Police Corps. From 1996 until 2002, Davis was a police officer and later a detective with the Rolla Police Department. In 2002, Davis joined the Phelps County Sheriff’s Department where he achieved the rank of Detective Sergeant before retiring in 2013. Most recently, Davis has served as Deputy Phelps County Coroner under former Coroner Swinfard.
“Andy Davis has dedicated his career to serving the people of Rolla and Phelps County, and I appreciate his commitment to continue that service as Phelps County Coroner,” Gov. Nixon said. “I also want to thank the family of Larry Swinfard for his service to his community.”
