The Sullivan Independent News Family is saddened to report that Franklin County Sheriff Deputy Maj. Michael Copeland passed away Sunday morning, March 13, following a medical illness.
Copeland was honored along with Sheriff Gary Toelke on February 5, for their combined 100 years of service in law enforcement.
The picture in this news piece shows Copeland, left, receiving a Proclamation from Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon, presented by State Senator Dave Schtaz, right.
“Maj. Copeland was one of the finest men I have ever worked with,” said James Bartle/Editor/Co-Publisher of the Sullivan Independent News. “I worked my entire news career with Coepland and Sheriff Toelke. My heartfelt condolences go out to the Copeland Family, FCSD, and all the law enforcement officers who have had the pleasure to call Mike a friend.”
