This course provides 40hours of basic corrections officers training needed for new, entry level, jail custody staff, jail custody staff that have not had any prior formal jail training needed to support the on the job training provided by their employing agency, and other jail employees who work in direct contract with detainees in the jail. The course provides a basic understanding of jail related topics intended to allow the person working in the jail the ability to; understand the unique environment of the jail in order to be efficient;  protect themselves and fellow co-workers from harm; protect themselves and their agency from criminal or civil liability; maintain the welfare of the people placed in their care; and uphold the rights of the detainees.

• Understanding Manipulative Behaviors [ 2 hr ]
• Melting Pot of Generations [ 3 hr ]
• Breaking the Communication Wall [ 2 hr ]
• Medication Dispensing Understanding [ 1 hr ]
