Recently our state legislators have grappled with several issues affecting the citizens of our great state. Of major importance to all is the budget shortfall experienced this fiscal year and the anticipated shortfalls in the years to come. As a result, the state continues to pull back on services provided to its citizens and lay more responsibility for many services, including law enforcement, at the feet of our local officials and thus our local county tax payers.
Hard economic times drive home the importance of self-sustainment and independence from state funding. The Missouri Sheriffs’ Association is an independent 501(c)(3), not-for-profit organization committed to providing excellence in the training and development of law enforcement officers. The association has trained over 31,000 Missouri peace officers in the past four years and again ranked number one in the state as to total numbers of basic academy graduates per year for the 4th year in a row. The vast majority of these graduates are officers employed by local agencies either at the county or municipal level. These men and women are protecting your community 24/7/365.
While we continue to adhere to our vision of excellence, the association needs your financial support in order to continue to make that vision a reality. This special appeal is for monies to be used exclusively for the operation of our training academy program. Your support will enable the academy to continue providing material, facilities, and equipment necessary for the delivery of training to the local men and women working to keep you safe.
With your help, we have accomplished much, but much remains. Your contribution to the special appeals general fund, whatever amount, is an investment in your community. It permits your local sheriff to provide training opportunities for your deputies, jailers, and in many instances, local police officers. Without the association, many agencies simply could not afford to train their officers.
Voice your support of the men and women working to make your community a safer place to live, work, and raise a family. Invest in the Missouri Sheriffs’ Association Training Academy. Donate to the General Fund today.
Thank you for your support.
