The Cass County Sheriff's Office located in Harrisonville Missouri has an opening for a full time position as a Communications Officer. The position involves shift work, including nights, holidays and weekends. Responsibilities include answering all calls to the Sheriff's Office, answering 9-1-1 calls for Cass County, and dispatching for the Sheriff's Office, 9 police and 6 fire departments. Salary and Benefits: Starting salary is $27,277.53 per year dependent on experience. Benefits available are medical, dental, and retirement options. $11.61/hr - Excellent Benefit Package. JOB DUTIES: To include, but not limited to, providing officer presence in the 41 Jackson County Parks through vehicles, boat, bike and foot patrol. Protect the natural resources, park facilities and park visitors while enforceing the county ordinances and park regulations. Provide information about park areas and programs available to the public. Open and close park areas. Document activities in a standard format. Write various reports on occurrences within the parks. Assist outside agencies when needed. Respond to emergency situations within the parks. QUALIFICATIONS: * Must be 21 years of age at time hiring. * Must be P.O.S.T. certified with a minumum of 600 hours academy training. * Must pass a criminal backgound check. * Previous law enforcement experience preferred but not required. * Must be willing to work any shift, weekends and most holidays. * Must be able to work well with others as well as independently. Shall also be able to communicate effectively with the public. * Must be willing to work in an outdoor environment under adverse conditions. * Good oral and written communication skills a must. * Basic knowledge of computers and office equipment is helpful. * Must have or obtain a valid Missouri Drivers license, as well as have a good driving record. * Experience with operating a motorized boat, as well as general knowledge of watercraft safety helpful. * Possess or be able to obtain First-Aid and CPR certification. * Must satisfactorily complete a 12 week FTO period, as well as a 6 month probationary period. The City of New Haven, Missouri is currently seeking a police recruit. Anyone can submit a resume or request a application. Please have the resume/application submitted by March 31, 2008. Interviews will begin in early April. Successfull applicants must go through the hiring board and city council, and complete training by mid May. New Haven is in Franklin County, so a class A is necessary. Shift work, eight hour days, and a lot of training opportunities.
